In SDH / ATM / SONET telecommunications networks, for efficient and reliable encoding /decoding, real-time images, videos and sounds, time servers/ frequency are requiring nanoseconds of accuracy. This level of precision is required to generate these frequencies 10, 5 and 2.048MHz as well as E1/T1. The time information transmission link in the railways has been greatly simplified and standardized. The networks can carry time and data over long distances safely and thus allow large savings on wiring.
